What we are doing here is a Prompt Tree Challenge. Any fandom is welcome, or for that matter things that aren't usually considered fandoms (historical figures, mythology, whatever you want). Gen and smut of any type are both welcome. Fanart is welcome, too - but if you post art, please link to it instead of posting it directly in the comments, and use appropriate warnings.

To explain how this works, I'm just going to use a really popular fandom with easily recognizable characters. PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS even if you participated last time, because I have changed them slightly in response to feedback.

First, you leave a top-level comment with the fandom you'd like to see people write in.

Then reply to that comment with the name of a character from that fandom you'd like to see people write about.

Points to remember:

• Make sure if you're responding to a pairing by itself that you leave your fic as a reply to the pairing; if you're responding to a specific prompt, leave your comment as a response to the prompt. Also remember, in the above example, if you want to leave a prompt for Roy Mustang by himself or pair him with a different character, start a new comment tree.


• Yes, you are free to request crossovers - if you want to, say, pair Ed up with Lelouch from Code Geass (idek, okay), just reply to the Ed comment with "Lelouch (Code Geass)".


• As I mentioned, please use the subject lines to clarify the pairing!


• Please add "FIC" to the subject line if you are posting fic, so that people can easily distinguish between fic and prompts! Ex: "FIC: Ed/Roy"


• ALSO, I'm going to ask that if you're writing porn, please add "[MA]" to the subject line for your comment fic, so that people who don't want to read smut can skip it. Ex: "FIC: Ed/Roy [MA]". (HOWEVER, this is forwarning to everyone: I am sure that some of us are going to forget about the porn warning on occasion, so you may well stumble across something that squicks you. If this is a truly horrible thought, you may want to skip this challenge.)


• Yes, you are free to respond to your own characters/pairings/prompts with a pairing/prompt/fic, if you want. And yes, multiple people can respond to the same characters/pairings/prompts.


• And one additional thing - you may feel free to add on to another person's prompt! Like, for example, maybe you saw "clash of tempers", and you'd like to add "in bed," just reply to the original prompt with your addition. (hurr all my examples are retarded)

I will leave some prompts to start with so everyone can look and see what I'm on about! If you are still confused after that, ask any questions here. I will be leaving the challenge open for about 3 weeks, so you have until near the end of August!

Natsume doesn't think they have a relationship. He lies in bed and thinks to himself about all the reasons why they don't.

1. Natori-san pops up approximately once a month but with an annoying irregularity; sometimes he'll turn up and stay for a week. Sometimes he'll be off filming dramas in Hokkaido and Natsume doesn't see him for months.

But, a little voice tells him, that's hardly an absolutely fair accusation. Natori-san is notoriously free of scandal about women or men or drugs or drink (which, of course, only makes him that much more attractive to millions of Japanese girls and women), and that can be traced back to the fact that he spends every single moment of his free time in the wholesome fresh air of the countryside, with Natsume.

Well, then.

2. They have too many secrets from each other. Natsume has not told him about the Yuujinchou; he will not tell Natori-san until after the fact, until he's successfully released all the youkai. That might take him a lifetime.

Oh ho, but that means that you're actually contemplating a lifetime with him, the treacherous little voice points out.

Natsume resists the urge to bang his head against the wall.

3. Natori-san exterminates youkai.

Yes, and one is slowly killing him. You may not agree with him but surely you can understand his reasons. Even the youkai can see that.

Natsume sighs. It's so hard to argue with himself, especially when he keeps coming up with all these reasonable arguments in defense of Natori-san. And anyway, it's hardly as if Natori-san goes around blindly exterminating any and every youkai he can get his hands on.

And you like the way he kisses you.

He flushes at the thought. You do like the way he kisses you, and touches you, and runs his fingers through your hair. You want to know what it'll be like to touch him back, you want to know what it'll be like when he moves his fingers and touches you elsewhere -

The thought giggles.

Natsume flings aside the bed covers to find a flock of sparkly little girls sitting on his windowsill and giggling at him. There are seven of them and they sit in a neat little row and they have blue hair and dragonfly wings and bright, mischievous eyes. Their feet are bare and the wear little dresses that look like they're made out of leaves and water and wind.

They're laughing at him.

'You like him, Natsume-sama,' they tell him, and they're using his voice, the irritating little monsters. 'We like him too! We think he's cute. He says we're cute too.'

Natori-san would, that flatterer! Natsume fights back an impolite curse. The last thing he needs is for Nyanko-sensei to wake up. He'll never live the humiliation down.

The pixies (fairies? sprites? small annoying things) laugh delightedly. 'He's blushing, he's blushing!' Their real voices are high and fluting, and they jump off the windowsill and link arms in a circle and dance around in mid-air. 'He's blushing! We'll tell Natori-san!'

'No!' Natsume yelps, and then covers his mouth hastily, stealing glances at Nyanko-sensei.

'No,' he says, keeping his voice low but urgent. 'Don't tell Natori-san!'

'Why?' Instead of asking him in one voice, they all take up the call, still twirling each other around. 'Why?' 'Why?' 'Why?' 'Why?' 'Why?' 'Why?' 'Why?'

It's too late at night - early in the morning? - to deal with this. 'Because it's embarassing,' he hisses.

'But Natori-san likes you too,' one of the fairies says.

Another one takes up the train of thought. 'He likes touching you and kissing you too. When he's near you, he smells happier.'

'We don't like the youkai on his arm,' one fairy notes, her high voice carrying undertones of disgust. 'Ugly lizard one.'

'Natori-san is afraid, sometimes,' another fairy says.

'We can smell it -'

'-just like we can smell the way you think about Natori-san-'

'-but when he's around Natsume-sama,'

'he smells happy,' they finish in a smug singsong.

Natsume sits there, a little stunned by their revelatory chorus.

'Oh,' one of them says, looking a little guilty. 'Natori-san told us not to tell.'

'Oh.'

'Never mind,' another one points out. 'We'll just have to tell him about Natsume-sama!'

'What?!' Natsume yelps, but they rear up into the air, sparkling and laughing in the starlight.

'Mates should talk to each other more,' one of them admonishes him. 'Lots of the youkai around here think so too.' And then they all disappear.

Natsume rolls over and buries his face in his pillow, which feels cool. His cheeks are on fire. Mate? They think he's my mate?

'Mate, eh?' comes the lazy, smirking, insufferable voice of Nyanko-sensei.

Natsume squeezes his eyes shut and wishes he could shut his ears as well.

Natori-san shows up the very next day, in the evening, with a massive bouquet of dark red roses. He presents the roses to Touko-san, bribes Nyanko-sensei with a bottle of old sake and a big dish of kippers, ushers Natsume out to a tandem bicycle (a tandem bicycle, of all things? Natsume thinks) and before Natsume knows it, they're cycling past the wheat fields and into the blue-green woods.

Natori-san looks at him with laughter in his eyes and the tiniest quirk at the corner of his lips. Natsume flushes for a moment but looks defiantly back at the older man, whose teasing look soon softens.

Natori-san leans in and presses their mouths together and Natsume lets Natori-san's tongue coax his lips apart. As their arms go around each other, as Natori-san gently lowers him to the grass -

Natsume thinks he hears a high, fluting giggle, and they both laugh into the kiss.
