Rules revision!
Hey folks, I've been working on a bit of a revision to the rules (it's been brought to my attention that some things were blatantly unclear) and I think I've got it mostly worked out.
Behold! Clarification! New additions (in italics)! Making some of the rules a little less patronising! I'm really sorry they came off that way. Mea culpa. m(_ _)m
Points to remember:
* Make sure if you're responding to a pairing by itself that you leave your fic as a reply to the pairing; if you're responding to a specific prompt, leave your comment as a response to the prompt. Also remember, in the above example, if you wanted to leave a prompt for Guy or Tear by themselves, or pair them with a different character, you'd just start a new comment tree under the Tales of the Abyss heading. (See why it's a porn tree now?)
* You may leave responses to your own top-level comments if you have specific characters you want to see paired off with the character you first named. Don't be afraid to leave multiple pairings and prompts. You left a comment about Kamui Shirou from X/1999, and you want to then offer up the opportunity to pair him with Kotori Monou? Go for it. You commented with Vashyron from Resonance of Fate, and you have a hankering to see him in bed with Zephyr? Pair away. You want to leave prompts to your own characters or pairings? Feel free. We won't yell at you. In fact, we encourage it.
* Please only post a pairing once. This is where the subject line thing comes in so very handy. Check the subject lines for your pairing, and if it's not listed, go wild. But if it's already there, please don't post it again - you can feel perfectly free to leave a prompt, though! Multiple people are allowed to leave prompts to the same pairing.
* Related to the above, it does not matter what order the pairing is in - if, for example, you have Kazuki and Soushi from Soukyuu no Fafner, Kazuki/Soushi and Soushi/Kazuki would be considered the same pairing. (This is something I'm willing to change, if enough people wish it so.)
* Yes, you are free to request crossovers - if, say, you find a comment with Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist, and you want to pair him up with Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass (hey, go wild if that's your thing), just reply to the Edward comment with something like "Lelouch (Code Geass)".
* Please do not lump all the games in a single franchise or series together! It may be tempting to drop every Final Fantasy or Phantasy Star game under a single heading labeled "(series name) series", but in the interests of more easily finding a specific game without having to hunt all over through one top-level comment, please make a separate top-level comment for each game.
* Please do not leave an empty top-level comment with no pairings or characters under it. I know the idea behind that is to get other people's imaginations going, but please leave at least one for the sake of clarity. Empty top-level comments will be deleted after twenty-four hours.
* Please, please, please use the subject lines to clarify your pairings! It makes it so much easier on all of us, whether we're reading, writing or just keeping an eye on things.
* In the spirit of the above, please only use the localized names for characters, unless you're prompting for a series that has been unreleased outside of its home country. If you think people won't recognize the character without the non-localized name, you can certainly feel free to add it in parentheses after. Example: "Jessica Philomele (Philomel Hartung)".
* And again looking at the above, if the character you're prompting for goes by a nickname that would be more easily recognized than their actual name, put that nickname in the subject line and the character's full name (then followed by nickname in parentheses, if you so choose) in the comment itself. Of course, it is totally up to you what you think would be more easily recognized.
* Please add "FIC" to the subject line if you are posting fic, (and likewise, "ART" if you're posting a link to art) so that people can easily distinguish between fic (or art) and prompts! Example: "FIC: Luke/Tear (no prompt)".
* I'm also going to ask that if you're writing or drawing porn, please add "[MA]" to the subject line for your comment, so that people who aren't here for smut can skip it. Example: "[MA] FIC: Luke/Tear (no prompt)". (HOWEVER, this is a big, big forewarning to everyone: I am sure that some of us are going to forget about the porn warning on occasion, so you may well stumble across something that squicks you. If this is a truly horrible thought, you may want to skip this challenge.)
* You may feel free to add on to another person's prompt! Like, for example, maybe you saw "clash of tempers", and you'd like to add "in bed" or "at lunchtime" or "in the shower" (hey, I don't know), just reply to the original prompt with your addition.
* Do not post prompts or responses to older challenges outside of amnesty periods. There is amnesty every other month, allowing you to prompt for or respond to any challenge from within the past year only (e.g.: amnesty for February 2018 allows for prompts or responses to any challenge back to February 2017), and every December is Everything Amnesty, allowing you to prompt for or respond to any challenge ever posted. Prompts for or responses to challenges outside of their respective amnesty periods will be deleted.
* Responses posted up to fifteen minutes after the end of a challenge - up to 12:14 AM Central Standard Time - will still be accepted. Any responses posted after that will be considered invalid and deleted.
This updated list of points will be included on every challenge from here on out, replacing the outdated set. Hopefully this is a little more helpful!

I was okay with the original state of the rules (... despite my one goofy mishap with a crossover pairing several years ago), but the clarifications are helpful. May the Porn Tree grow many branches and leaves.

I wonder what kind of fertilizer a porn tree--no, actually, I don't wonder. *hee*
